Sergey Spivak is set to face Marcin Tybura in a heavyweight bout on August 10 at UFC on ESPN 61 at the Apex arena in Las Vegas, USA.
Bookmakers are offering close odds, slightly favoring the younger and more motivated fighter. Spivak is a finisher, and knockout power will be on his side.
Tybura won their first encounter; however, the Polish fighter has shown little progress since then, unlike his opponent.
Sergey Spivak
- Competed in World Warriors Fighting Championship, Eagles Fighting Championship, N1 Pro Nomad MMA, and Real Fight Promotion. Former WWFC champion. Recipient of 1 UFC “Performance of the Night” bonus.
- Record: 20 fights, 16 wins, 4 losses.
Sergey will frequently throw jabs, followed by powerful right overhands or two hooks. This will force Tybura to raise his guard, exposing his body to middle kicks.
Spivak will attempt to box at a high pace to make his takedowns more unexpected. Marcin is unlikely to allow Sergey to land heavy ground-and-pound early in the fight, but towards the middle, the Moldovan fighter will figure out how to attack most effectively on the ground.
Spivak has chances for a TKO victory on the ground up until the third round, but after that, cardio might become an issue.
Marcin Tybura
- Former M-1 Heavyweight Champion and Heavyweight Grand Prix winner. Recipient of 4 UFC “Performance of the Night” bonuses.
- Record: 33 fights, 25 wins, 8 losses.
Marcin will try to break down his opponent with straight punches in counterattacks. He’ll allow Sergey to land a couple of strikes before going on the offensive himself, throwing low kicks and heavy hooks.
Tybura will maintain a long distance, from where he can throw front kicks and wait for an opportunity to shoot for a takedown. When Sergey launches another boxing combination, Marcin will attempt a takedown.
On top, he’ll slowly control his opponent, landing occasional elbow strikes. He’ll try to avoid the clinch but will have enough strength to resist in fence wrestling and return to a safe distance.
Sergey Spivak vs. Marcin Tybura: Fight prediction
The fighters’ first bout took place four years ago, and this new fight is unlikely to have much in common with it. Sergey has become much more technical in boxing, and this time he’ll be prepared for sudden takedowns. While Spivak may struggle to outwrestle Tybura, he has the ability to break down his opponent in stand-up and clinch exchanges.
Sergey will likely be at a slight cardio disadvantage, but he has enough skills to hold on in the later rounds. At the same time, Spivak has a slightly better chance of an early finish in the first half of the fight, as he has improved in both tactics and power since their first meeting. That’s why Sergey is my favorite in the upcoming bout.
