Battleground Live Coverage – Roman Reigns Vs Seth Rollins Vs Dean Ambrose

battleground live coverage

Check out our Battleground live coverage.

The WWE draft is over, but the Battleground PPV, which is sort of now an afterthought, is tonight. It’s the Shield three-way for Dean Ambrose’s WWE title.

The match should be a fun one. Roman Reigns is back off his suspension and is probably going to be booed out of the building. Seth and Dean were the top two picks in the draft and hopefully are positioned as such. Will there be a screw job finish which will introduce a second WWE title? Or will all of whatever happens, take place on TV this week?

I don’t think this lineup is one of the strongest ones they’ve had lately, but there should be several good matches. We’ll be back later with live coverage.

Charlotte and Dana Brooke Vs Sasha Banks and Bayley

It’s Bayley! Even Dave Meltzer couldn’t figure that one out even though we all figured that one out. And really, it’s for the best. She deserves to be up here. But why in the blue hell wasn’t she drafted?

Sasha Banks made Charlotte tap out to the Bank Statement. Brooke was able to interfere the first time, but Banks hit the backstabber and then made her tap. Good finish.

Winner: Sasha Banks and Bayley

The Wyatt Family Vs New Day

It’s a six-man tag and not for the titles. Xavier Woods and his top Pokemon Go status are scared. Bray looked great early on, demolishing Kofi. It broke out into a brawl. Wyatt had Kofi in the Sister Abigail, but Woods broke it up.

He sat there mesmerized. Then he fired up and attacked Bray. Rowan came in and Woods got rid of him. He threw a discus punch at Strowman and he didn’t go down, but Big E hit the dive through the ropes and fell on his own head. Then Bray hit the Sister Abigail on Woods for the fall.

Winner: The Wyatt Family

I have no idea what Woods was scared of. They just pinned him and that was it.

Rusev Vs Zack Ryder

Rusev beat him with the Accolade. It looked like Ryder would get out of the move, but then Rusev pulled on it more and Ryder tapped out.

Winner: Rusev

Ryder looked ridiculous in his get up. Mojo Rawley came out to save him to zero pop.

Sami Zayn Vs Kevin Owens

Zayn screwed up his moonsault to the outside and fell on his right shoulder. They started working the arm, so maybe he was supposed to screw it up.

Owens put him in a cross face. He kept trying to powerbomb him on the apron, but Zayn jumped onto the apron the first time and reversed it the second time and Owens took a sick bump.

They started doing the “Fight Forever” stuff and the crowd ate it up. Zayn hit two of his exploder suplexes in a row for a great two count. Owens hit a Pop-up Powerbomb for a two. Owens yelled at Zayn to stay down. Zayn hit the exploder into the corner, then into the other side and then the Helluva kick. He held him up to do it again for the pin. This was great stuff.

Winner: Sami Zayn

Natalya Vs Becky Lynch

This was a good match. Natalya worked on Becky’s leg for the entire match, which was good stuff. It seems that her new character as a heel is based on submissions and working the leg for the submission.

Near the end of the match, Becky hit a missile drop kick for a two count. She went for Natalya in the corner. Natalya kicked her in the knee to set up the sharp shooter for the win.

Winner: Natalya

Darren Young Vs The Miz

The match was okay for what it was and the finish was interesting, though took forever.

Young was ready to put the Chicken Wing on Miz, but Miz walked out. Backlund cut him off and Miz backed away, right back into Young, who pulled him back into the ring.

Maryse slapped Backlund and he took a bump. But then he fired up and tried to take his shirt off. But he couldn’t get the shirt off at his wrists so it was funky. Then Miz came out as Maryse said Backlund pushed her, though he didn’t. He pushed Backlund and he took another bump. Then Young came out to put Miz in the Chicken Wing from outside the ring. The bell rang, but I don’t think it was a double countout. Maybe Young was DQ’d.

Winner: The Miz

John Cena and Enzo and Big Cass Vs AJ Styles and the Club

This was what you’d expect in a match with Enzo and Cass. Enzo took a beating for most of the match, setting up a hot tag for Cena. Cena didn’t run wild like Hogan in the 80s. Then it turned into a match with no rules. There were tons of spots with all the guys in the ring, tags or not. And it totally worked.

Enzo was in the ring with the Club and cleaned house a bit. Cena came back in and knocked AJ who was on the top rope. AJ was perched and then at a Super AA and was pinned.

Winner: John Cena and Enzo and Big Cass

Chris Jericho came out and introduced Randy Orton. Orton was in total good guy mode. And it’s so not natural for him. They tried to get over #OUTTANOWHERE to set-up a RKO on Jericho at some point. Jericho showed an interview with Brock and said Orton is scared of him. He then told Orton that Lesnar said he was a coward and a stupid idiot. Orton also got an “enhanced” joke in. Then Jericho ate the RKO. That was fun.

Seth Rollins Vs Roman Reigns Vs Dean Ambrose

Reigns came out with a beard. I wonder if we get the double turn with him and Rollins.

At times, they were doubling Reigns, but Reigns would get out of it. Finally, they gave him the power bomb onto the Spanish announcer’s table. Then Rollins hit both with chairs, like on the night he turned.

Ambrose was on the top rope. Rollins hit the superplex and then rolled over into the falcon arrow for a two count. Reigns came back to life and hit a sitout powerbomb onto Rollins for a two.

Reigns speared Rollins and had the pin, but Ambrose grabbed Rollins and hit the Dirty Deeds for the win.

Winner: Dean Ambrose
