Check out our UFC on Fox 19 live coverage.
After nothing but following wrestling of late, I’m ready for some UFC. While this show took a bit of a hit thanks to the loss of the main event as well as Dan Henderson, there’s still some good stuff, including a great women’s bout.
Hacran Dias Vs Cub Swanson
It was a close round. Both guys were hesitant, though throwing leg kicks. Swanson had three big swings and all missed by a mile. He keeps ducking low, which would seem like a bad idea considering the kick game. Swanson’s going back and forth between southpaw and orthodox stances.
Swanson put him down with a punch, but couldn’t follow up. Cub’s doing a great job at keeping Dias off-balanced. He feinted and then threw a leg kick that knocked Dias down.
Swanson was even better in the third. He dropped him with a head kick and then kept him on the ground. Dias couldn’t really get anything going outside of the leg kicks in the first. Swanson went for the finish, but time ran out.
Winner: Cub Swanson by unanimous decision
Looks like the judges gave Dias the first as he won 29-28 on all scorecards.
Darrell Horcher Vs Khabib Nurmagomedov
It took Nurmagomedov about 2 and 1/2 minutes long to get it, but he finally got a huge takedown. In side control, Nurmagomedov was landing some nasty elbows. He then went for his back and ended up half in the mount. He ended up sitting high up on his back and reigning down punches.
Nurmagomedov is a maniac. Horcher can barely breathe as he’s actively going for the takedown and gets it with a trip. Nurmagomedov had him in the crucifix and little brothered him. The referee is allowing him to take the punishment. He decided to give up his back to stop the punches. Nurmagomedov got hooks in and rather than go for the choke, just continued throwing big shots at him. It was finally stopped.
Winner: Khabib Nurmagomedov by way of 2nd round TKO
Tecia Torres Vs Rose Namajunas
It was a good round for both, but Torres’ striking was quicker. Namajunas is longer and on the inside, it was hard for her to get going. Torres put her head down and threw overhand punches that missed. Namajunas grabbed her in a clinch, but Torres knocked her with a left hook. Namajunas got a late takedown.
Great second round. A lot of Torres’ tricks to get inside in the first round didn’t work in the second. Namajunas was keeping her distance and using her length to pick Torres a part. Torres is tough though and took some big shots and kept coming. We’re probably tied going into round three.
Third round was tough to score as Torres had a much better round than the second. Namajunas scored a late takedown that might be the decider for the judges.
Winner: Rose Namajunas by way of unanimous decision
All judges had it 29-28.
Glover Teixeira Vs Rashad Evans
It didn’t take long. Teixeira blasted Evans with a left hand right on the chin. Evans went down, tried to get back up, but was blasted with a right hand and he was done.
Winner: Glover Teixeira by way of 1st round TKO
