The Ultimate Fighter: Team Pettis Vs Team Melendez – Episode 6 (TUF 20)

TUF 20

It’s the sixth episode of the all-female season TUF 20 in which the strawweight champion will be determined.

Angela Magana is facing Aisling Daly in the battle of last round picks.

Magana says her parents were drug addicts and she was born addicted to heroin.

Tecia is still persona non-grata on Team Pettis. Daly was sick and was throwing up, thinking it was heat exhaustion. She talks about being on medication and being diagnosed with depression and anxiety.

Magana talks about being in a bad accident and a body cast and then coming back and fighting. And then finding the man of her dreams and losing him the day after their engagement. And also, she was in a coma after a car accident. Talk about bad luck.

Pettis says that because she’s so unorthodox, Daly hurts him most in sparring. Daly believes her striking is some of the best out of all the competitors.

Daly was ecstatic to be able to watch the UFC Dublin card on Fight Pass as she had four teammates on the card.

Aisling Daly (5) Vs Angela Magana (12)

Daly came out fast, but Magana got the first takedown. Magana got her back and tried to sink in a rear naked choke, but she couldn’t get her elbow underneath Daly’s chin. She fought for the position for over half the round. Daly tried to get a kimura to no avail. Magana’s wrestling helped her win the first. The ref stood them up when Magana had a decently dominant position.

Daly had the upper hand in the grappling in the second round. She was in all the best positions and nearly had a rear naked choke to end the round. This thing is going to a third round.

Daly owned Magana in the third. She got the takedown and immediately went for her back. She rode Magana and then tried to straighten her out. Rather than go back to the choke, she decided to just punch from the top and Magana couldn’t defend herself. It was stopped.

Winner: Aisling Daly by way of 3rd round TKO

Magana was very upset at getting stood up after having what she thought was dominant position. Melendez thought so too.

The next fight sees 7th ranked Rose Namajunas facing 10th ranked Alex Chambers. This might be the time for Team Melendez to get their first win.
