Strikeforce Challengers: Tarec Saffiedine Vs. Tyron Woodley

This is the second MMA show of the year, and the first from Strikeforce. It’s also probably the most impressive Challengers card to date. I’m excited to see Rhadi Ferguson’s debut. He’s better known as the brother of Kimbo Slice. I’m also amped to see Ovince Saint Preux, Daniel Cormier, and then Woodley and Saffiedine in the main event.

1. John Richard vs. Rhadi Ferguson

Richard threw one of the hardest and wildest over-hand lefts to start a fight that I’ve ever seen. Thankfully for Ferguson, he missed. They started to grabble and Ferguson tried for a heel hook and didn’t get it. Richard rolled over to get Ferguson’s back. Richard is fast, but he lost a lot of weight to get this fight. Have to wonder if that hurts him later in the fight. Ferguson turned him over and started to lay in on the ground and pound. Richard turtled and Ferguson nailed him with more shots. One point was deducted from Richard for losing his mouth piece three times. It was Ferguson’s round and with the point deduction, it’s a 10-8 round.

Richard threw a kick that may have been low. Ferguson started to keel over and Richard rushed at him like a football tackle. Richard went down immediately. He grabbed Richard’s leg and went for a knee bar. Richard stepped over and got out, but Ferguson grabbed his other leg and went for a knee bar/heel hook and Richard tapped.

Winner: Rhadi Ferguson by way of 2nd round submission

2. Amanda Nunes vs. Julia Budd

That was very fast. Nunes dropped Budd with a left hand after bunch of quick punches and followed it up on the ground and it was over.

Winner: Amanda Nunes by way of 1st round TKO

Mauro Ranello says she could be on the fast track to face Cyborg.

3. Devin Cole vs. Daniel Cormier
