The talk is done. All that’s left is the fighting. We previewed the fight early this week and everyone picked Mayweather. How much of a chance does Victor Ortiz have? The late Vegas money looks to be coming in on Ortiz, but some of that is because of the news that Ortiz was going to outweigh Mayweather by 14 pounds and some of it is probably just because underdogs look a lot more tempting right before the fight starts.
Earlier on the card, Jessie Vargas defeated Josesito Lopez by split decision. Erik Morales shook off some slow and old early rounds to stop Pablo Cesar Cano in the 10th. Canelo Alvarez stopped a game Alfonso Gomez in what looked like an early stoppage. He hit Gomez with an uppercut and right-hand and Gomez was forced back and didn’t look like he knew where he was.
It’s now time for the main event.
Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather
Mayweather is landing a lead right hand and Ortiz isn’t really seeing it coming. I would’ve expected Ortiz to come out a little more aggressive. Mayweather seems to know what’s coming before Ortiz throws it. Victor started to lead with a left hand that landed.
