What were the top stories last week?
I thought this was another strong countdown show, though the strongest part of the show wasn’t the main event or even the semi-main event. The strongest sell for this show based on the video was Diego Sanchez.
I know that’s not too much of a surprise as Diego is one of the best personalities in MMA and he has a fighting style to match. Johny Hendricks is a man possessed with being the best. Robbie Lawler is a great comeback story. Carlos Condit is consistently good. Tyron Woodley is an athletic freak. And Myles Jury is untested.

When Georges St-Pierre went into semi-retirement and surrendered the welterweight championship that he’s had a on lockdown for years, it opened up the welterweight division to many possibilities. Guys like Carlos Condit, Johny Hendricks, Robbie Lawler, and Nick Diaz become more than contenders. They now become real possible champions.
But before the rest of the welterweight division gets a chance at the belt, long-time UFC veteran Robbie Lawler and the man who took GSP on the brink, Johny Hendricks get the first shot.
GSP himself feels like Hendricks will win.

In a press conference with Georges St-Pierre and Dana White earlier Friday, St-Pierre announced that he was going to take some necessary time off. He mentioned pressure as being the main reason. He said that physically, he feels 100%, but mentally, he feels the weight on his shoulders and mentioned his own obsession with his next fight as the big reason. Continue reading
