If not for Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho, I don’t think I would’ve bought the show tonight. Wait, didn’t I say that at the last PPV write-up? Oh well. There’s only one other compelling match, and they’ve done everything they can to ruin that one. Jeff Hardy and Triple H are now fighting to see who gets Kozlov, or something like that. I’m not exactly sure why he’s in the middle of their feud, and don’t really care because they’ve done a terrible job promoting the match. The ladder by itself is more intriguing than this match.

We’re opening up with Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry. I guess it’s good to get it out of the way early.
Big D is going to send me his thoughts after the matches and I’ll add them after mine. This might be interesting. Our tastes in wrestling are very similar at times, and completely opposite at others.
1. Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry
Henry took most of the match and it was very slow. The crowd popped for Hardy pulling the Twist Of Fate out of his ass as Henry had him up for a slam. Todd Grisham and Jerry Lawler (I didn’t hear why The Teacher wasn’t doing the color) are trying to sell this as Hardy’s biggest win ever. Hardy keeps his ECW championship.

I wouldn’t usually blog about Raw or Smackdown, but this is the biggest Raw or Smackdown show in a very long time. They’ve done a great job publicizing the event, and you could say they’ve done a better job than promoting the PPV. There are many champion versus champion matches.
But it looks like we’re opening up with an 8 man tag.

1. Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Fit Finlay, and Batista vs. MVP, JBL, The Brian Kendrick, and Kane
I’m already tired of Gregory Helms’ “I’m just saying,” gimmick by the way.
Let’s hope there’s a lot of MVP and Kendrick for the heel side.
The match wasn’t as exciting as I thought it’d be and it was really long. But the last two minutes were great. Rey Rey made the hot tag to Jeff which lead to everyone getting in the ring and kicking each other out of the ring. Rey hit MVP with the 619 and Jeff hit the swanton for the pin.
Winner: Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Fit Finlay, and Batista

1. Jeff Hardy vs. MVP
MVP used a few submissions and Hardy sold for a lot of the match. Hardy made his comeback and hit the “Whisper In The Wind”. He went up top for the swanton, but saw Shelton Benjamin come out and jumped on him. He went back to the top and then missed the swanton. MVP hit the “Shining MVP” for the win. Pretty good opener.
Winner: MVP by pin fall
Santino and Beth Phoenix did an interview with Maria where the gist was that Maria couldn’t have Santino anymore because he was all Beth’s. Maria looks awesome.

Our own Big D wrote the latest FCW taping report for F4WOnline/Wrestling Observer, which featured Edge and a reunion of sorts for the Second City Saints.

1. Miz and Morrison vs. Hawkins and Ryder vs. Jesse and Festus vs. Finlay and Hornswoggle
Fit Finlay rules. He carried most of the match until he made the hot tag to Hornswoggle and then Jesse tagged into the match after Hornswoggle went wild for about 5 seconds. Festus then went um, dumb? and Hawkins (or Ryder?) pinned Jesse after tripping him off the top rope. Hawkins and Ryder are the new Smackdown tag champs. Good opener, even if it was fairly quick.
Winners: Hawkins and Ryder by pin fall.
2. Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin

This week’s edition of “Hate it Or Love It, Big D’s on Top” looks at this past Monday Night’s WWE RAW, an eventful, fun, and bizarre show, as it’s been for the past few weeks. It’s tough to get used to this “new direction” WWE is in, but I’m having a good time thus far.
Loved: Crash TV Done Right. Yeah it’s Crash TV, but it’s exactly how it is supposed to be! Unpredictable things happen and unlike TNA or any of the other companies that do this, the logical reasoning behind is that nobody is in charge whereas Smackdown is more like an old Saturday Night pro wrestling show. I don’t think this was a premeditated idea, but a good one that fell into their lap and they’re making good use of it. Everything from the constant interruptions of angles to the properly placed run-ins, to the opening brawl on the floor - this is making RAW fun again. There have been some great RAW shows in the past few years, but none that feel this thrilling and fun to watch - something live wrestling has needed for a while.
Hated: Michael Cole. Cole is definitely a lot better than I expected since moving to RAW (he may have stepped his game up after Vince flipped on him in the back), but with that said, I don’t think he’s good enough to be calling RAW, specially since it’s been awesome for the past four weeks now. Still, he’s still incompetent and I phase him out most of the time.

Hated: 20 Minute Opening Segments. A lot of times when WWE hits a creative slump, they produce what I call the “clusterfuck”, where they have a handful of mid-card to main-event talent come out and complain about wanting title shots and it always winds up with some kind of over-booked multi-man gimmick match. Thankfully, last night’s cluster actually built to something, although it could’ve easily been condensed to 10 minutes as opposed to 20.
Loved: Vickie Guerrero. I don’t think any heel “authority” figure has gotten as much heat as Vickie since Mr. McMahon in the Attitude Era (although Regal came dangerously close earlier in the year). I loved the surprise of having on the show appear just to irk people. I also loved how they FINALLY had CM Punk tell Vickie that what happened to Edge was a “what goes around, comes around” deal, something I’ve said since Punk won the title, that WWE HAD to acknowledge. Still, Vickie brings heat, deserved or not.
