This was the first UFC show I’ve missed in a while, and I’m pretty bummed about it. I had computer issues all evening and by the time I wanted to get the show, it had already started, so I just decided to miss out on it.

Here are the results from tonight:

1. Ed Herman beat Clifford Starks by 2nd round submission (rear naked choke).

2. Renan Barao beat Scott Jorgensen by unanimous decision (30-27 for all three judges).

3. Josh Koscheck beat Mike Pierce by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). Supposedly, Koscheck was lucky to get away with a win here.

4. Fabricio Werdum beat Roy Nelson by unanimous decision (30-27 for all three judges).

5. Carlos Condit beat Nick Diaz by unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46). The feedback has been split. Just from gauging on Twitter, it seemed like it was about 60%/40% for Condit, but the Diaz fans were pretty upset. Their theory was that Condit was moving backward and Diaz was the aggressor. After the fight, Diaz teased that he was quitting MMA.

It’s my favorite PPV of the year and it generally delivers. We’ve done tremendous coverage on the show on the site so far with our preview articles and all that’s left is the wrestling.

1. Daniel Bryan vs. Mark Henry vs. The Big Show

The story of this match is that Daniel Bryan is a pinball and he’s bouncing around for Big Show and Mark Henry. Mark Henry couldn’t really do anything. He was not the world’s strongest man tonight. He could barely get his foot off the ground.

Bryan went to the top of the cage to try and leave, but the every so swift Big Show kept catching him. Big Show trapped Daniel Bryan’s arm and then also had him by his head so it looked like Bryan was hanging from the top of the cage, which was pretty cool. Show had a grip on him and Bryan was hanging from Show’s wrists, and finally let go and won the match.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

Bryan did the “Yes” screams after the match. (Photo sent in by my friend Jenn who is there live.)

2. The Bellas, Natalya, and Beth Phoenix vs. Alicia Fox, Eve, Kelly Kelly, and Tamina

Beth Phoenix tagged herself in by slapping one of the bellas pretty hard, immediately gave Kelly Kelly the Glam Slam for the win. Beth projects her character better than most of the dude wrestlers.

Winner: The Bellas, Natalya, and Beth Phoenix

3. John Cena vs. Kane

Your biggest star is used as the backdrop dor a terrible angle where Kane just keeps beating up Zack Ryder. The match was actually okay. Cena did a pretty sweet “You Can’t See Me” fist drop from the top rope.

They were both counted out and they brawled to the back. Earlier in the show, Zack Ryder was wheeled into the arena and Johnny Ace gave him a room to relax in. As they were brawling in the back, Kane found where Zack was, beat him up, brought him back to the ring and beat him up some more. For whatever reason, Cena was no where to be found. Eve was pleading with Kane, but to no avail. It was tombstone time. He was put on a stretcher and taken to the back.

Winner: No one (double count out)

And right after that brutal bullying, they ran an anti-bullying ad. Hmmm.

4. Drew McIntyre vs. Brodus Clay

And here we all thought that Drew was fired. He might as well be. Brodus with the squash.

Winner: Brodus Clay

5. Dolph Ziggler vs. CM Punk

It’s too bad that the Johnny Ace/CM Punk feud was given more importance than this match because it could’ve been so much better. It was still good. Lots of back and forth, but it was mostly hurt by the constant interfering by Ace. Punk had the match won a couple of times, but there was a ref bump and Ace was the ringside enforcer and wouldn’t count the pin. Punk had him up for a GTS and clipped Ace who was upset and wouldn’t count the pin again. Dolph hit the Fame Asser for a near fall. Punk hit the GTS again and Ace came in to help the referee count the pin. Odd finish.

Winner: CM Punk

6. Royal Rumble

Miz eliminated Riley fairly easily and now has to face Truth. Miz eventually eliminated Truth. Mick and Ricardo eliminated Gabriel. It looks like Mick is going to pair up with anyone and everyone. Santino gave Ricardo a wedgie before throwing him out. Foley and Santino did a socko vs. cobra stand-off. Epico was quickly socko’d out.

Cody tossed out Foley from behind. Lawler came out, hit the fist drop and was thrown out by Cody. Cody and Miz are cleaning up. The Great Khali comes back and immediately eliminates Khali and Big Zeke. No wonder Jinder hates him. Booker came in and only had a shirt and tie on. He must’ve been pantsless. Miz tossed out Kofi, but Kofi did a handstand so his feet didn’t hit the floor and he walked on his hands to the steps so he’s still in the match. Awesome. Duggan wasn’t long for this match. Cody and Miz are still running things.

Kharma, Booker, and Lawler eliminated Cole. Kharma press slammed Hunico out. After Kharma did her move on Ziggler, he threw her out. Sheamus tossed out Kofi. Barrett tossed out Road Dog. It was fun while it lasted. Orton tossed out Barrett like he was Jey Uso. He also threw out Jey Uso. Jericho didn’t run around the ring and slap fives with fans. He immediately eliminated David Otunga. Show eliminated Miz, Rhodes, and Ziggler.

Show, Jericho, Sheamus, and Orton are the final four. Orton eliminated Show and Jericho eliminated Orton. It’s Jericho and Sheamus. Holy crap. Sheamus won.

Winner: Sheamus

Sometimes, cards that don’t look great on paper turn out to be fun. As a fan, your expectations are lowered and you can just enjoy the action. Let’s hope that UFC 142 is that way because on paper, it looks like a bit of an afterthought.

The big news yesterday was that Anthony Johnson’s body shut down when he was trying to cut weight and he weighed in at 197 for a 185 pound fight. Vitor accepted the fight as long as Johnson didn’t weigh more than 205 this morning and Johnson has to give him 20% of his purse. The fight will go on.

1. Terry Etim vs. Edson Barboza

The first round featured a ton of leg kicks and some nice boxing. Neither guy really got the advantage and while a lot of strikes scored, no one was in trouble. Leg kicks may hurt Etim in the next couple rounds.

Etim started to gain some momentum late in the round, but Barboza’s striking is more varied and he’s landing the harder shots. Etim needs to close out strong to win this one.

Holy cow! Barboza threw a wheel kick and caught Etim right in the face with his heel. Etim went stiff and out.

Winner: Edson Barboza by way of 1st round TKO

2. Carlo Prater vs. Erick Silva

Well, that was fast. Silva landed a right hand, then a knee when Prater buckled and them hammer fists on the ground and it was over. Uh oh. The referee is going to take away Silva’s victory because of shots to the back of the head. There have been many worse occurrences of hitting in the back of the head. Silva got a raw deal.

Winner: Carlo Prater by way of disqualification

3. Mike Massenzio vs. Rousimar Palhares

Massenzio never had a chance. After kicking him low, Palhares grabbed him, pulled him into his guard, and immediately heel hooked him.

Winner: Rousimar Palhares by way of 1st round submission

4. Anthony Johnson vs. Vitor Belfort

Vitor is the biggest babyface on earth right now. Johnson started early, using his wrestling and landing a huge bomb when Belfort was on his back. Johnson got another takedown, but they were stood back up quickly. Vitor got Johnson down, got his back, and sunk in a rear naked choke for the win.

Winner: Vitor Belfort by way of 1st round submission

5. Chad Mendes vs. Jose Aldo

It was a funny exchange early on. Mendes landed a couple of leg kicks. And then Aldo landed one. Aldo’s looked like it was about 10 times harder. Mendes worked for the takedown and just couldn’t get it. He had a shot at one, but Aldo held onto the cage. He let Aldo get away and he was still in a crouch. Aldo kneed him right in the face and followed up with a bomb on the ground and it was over with one second left in the round.

Winner: Jose Aldo by way of 1st round TKO

As I said in the preview, I’m kind of surprised that this fight is happening. With all the injuries this year, the two biggest guys in the UFC made it through unscathed. It’s really a monster movie kind of fight. And, it’s also a your classic striker vs. wrestler match-up.

The undercard was all decisions. That tells me we’ll see all finishes on the main card.

1. Jimy Hettes vs. Nam Phan

Hettes owned the entire first half of the round. He took Phan down a couple times, locked in a guillotine, and was laying into him with the ground and pound. I thought it was going to be stopped. Phan was able to get back up, which tells me that Hettes might not be a hard hitter. Phan looked like he was going to start doing well in the standup, but Hettes hip tossed him. Hettes went for an arm bar, but Phan fought it, taking a beating in the process. Has to be a 10-8 round.

It was Hettes’ round yet again. Not quite 10-8 this round. He was using all kinds of throws to get Phan on his back and was going for submissions, but Phan was fighting them. If Hettes could punch a bit, this fight would be over.

Both guys are pretty tired. If Phan had a chance, it was when they were standing up and Hettes looked to be more tired. But soon thereafter, Hettes took him down again and was slamming him with punches and elbows from the top. He gave him another beating to easily win the fight.

Winner: Jimy Hettes by way of unanimous decision

The scores were 30-25, 30-25, 30-26.

2. Alexander Gustafsson vs. Vladimir Matyushenko

Well, MGM got their first stoppage of the night. Matyushenko stepped right into a Gustafsson jab and went down. Gustafsson followed it up on the ground and it was stopped very quickly.

Winner: Alexander Gustafsson by way of 1st way TKO

3. Johny Hendricks vs. Jon Fitch

Well, MGM got their second finish. Hendricks stepped into a left hand and Fitch went out. Wow.

Winner: Johny Hendricks by way of 1st round TKO

4. Donald Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz

They rushed each other like two bulls. Diaz had his way with Cerrone on the feet. Cerrone tried to mix up his strikes with leg kicks, but he had to have eaten 40 punches to his face. Diaz’s striking was super accurate and he beat Cerrone to punch every time.

This is going to be an interesting scoring round. With my eyes, I’d give it to Nate again as his boxing has just been excellent. But Cerrone was putting him down with leg kicks. The second round scoring will be interesting if Cerrone is able to win round three.

Cerrone’s strikes were more varied with knees, high kicks, leg kicks, and punches. I think he takes this round just based off that. He still took a beating in the process. I have Diaz winning 29-28.

Winner: Nate Diaz by unanimous decision

The scores were 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28.

5. Alistair Overeem vs. Brock Lesnar

Brock opened up a cut over Overeem’s eye with a jab. Overeem opened up a cut on the back of Brock’s head. Brock was very passive. Overeem was fighting slightly cautiously as well as he was looking to stop the takedown. He had the overhand right open. He hit Brock with a kick to the gut and Brock went down. He threw punches on the ground and it was stopped.

Winner: Alistair Overeem by 1st round TKO

WWE’s year end PPV wasn’t put together very well. John Cena, the top draw isn’t even on the show. Yet, Triple H and Kevin Nash are having a ladder match, in their first match of the feud. This PPV feels like the writers just threw s*it (and I’m not talking about Rosey) against the wall and went with what stuck. That being said, I’m looking forward to Dolph Ziggler against Zack Ryder and Cody Rhodes vs. Booker T. Those matches have been booked fairly well. I don’t really care too much about any of the main events, but the triple threat TLC match should be good nonetheless.

1. Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder

Ziggler was fantastic in this match, just such a great animated heel. The match picked up near the end with some really great near falls. Vickie was throw out of the match for putting Dolph’s foot on the rope to save him. Ziggler hit the Fame Asser for a near fall. Ryder hit a Frankensteiner from the top rope for a near fall. Ziggler ran into the corner for a splash and was hit with knees to the face and then the leg lariat for the pin. Fun match. Zack is the new US champ.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Cody attacked Booker in the back and Booker’s eyes went wide and he was puffing out his cheeks. He’s been taking his vitamins as he looks good.

2. Air Boom vs. Primo and Epico

Evan Bourne’s not getting the slap on the wrist quite yet. Fun tag team match, and very much by the books, except with all of Bourne’s high flying. Kofi hit Primo with the Trouble In Paradise for the pinfall.

Winner: Air Boom

3. Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton

This is a table match. It was pretty decent while it lasted. We were all thinking of ways that Orton could put Barrett through the table. I was hoping for the between the ropes DDT through the table on the floor to Barrett, but then, I didn’t want him to die. They didn’t tease any table spots except for teasing that they were going to throw each other through the one in the corner. For whatever reason, Barrett put Orton on the table and went to the top rope and you know what happened next. RKO right through the table on a flying Barrett.

Winner: Randy Orton

4. Beth Phoenix vs. Kelly Kelly

If Beth was with someone who could stay with her, this would’ve been a pretty good match. Beth went for the Bitch Clamp and Kelly rolled through for a two count. Beth reversed it for a two count. Kelly went for a hurracanrana but Beth caught her and fell backwards and Kelly face planted. Match over.

Winner: Beth Phoenix

Well, Booker vs. Cody was about to start, but it false started again. Booker came out but he was attacked again. They are really making Booker look old. Match didn’t start and it looks like they are both going to the back.

5. Kevin Nash vs. Triple H

This is a ladder match. Whoever gets the sledgehammer first wins. I guess HHH can’t get his usual sledgehammer from under the ring.

In the best spot so far, HHH tied up Nash’s legs in the rungs of the ladder and put on a figure four. Slow Nash is slow. Nash side slammed HHH on top of the ladder. Half of HHH’s butt missed, but still looked like it sucked. HHH tried to backdrop Nash on the table, but Nash couldn’t get up so he just rolled over it. Looked awful.

Nash took five years to get into the ring. Nash put a table into the ring and actually used it to help him get to his feet. HHH has to sell for way too long. They both went up the ladder to get the sledgehammer and Nash fell backward through the table. The most gingerly fall you’ve ever seen. HHH got the sledge, hit Nash, and then tried to give him the pedigree but Nash screwed up the first one. He hit the second one and then hit Nash with the sledge after Nash tried to throw up the wolfpac sign. HHH crotch chopped him. Then he pinned him, and thankful for all watching, it was over. This should win worst match of the year.

Winner: HHH

6. Jack Swagger vs. Sheamus

This match was made in a segment with Teddy Long. There wasn’t much to it. Sheamus won with the Brogue Kick.

Winner: Sheamus

7. The Big Show vs. Mark Henry

Well, this PPV has fallen off a cliff. Show won the match with the big punch.

Winner: Mark Henry

Henry DDT’d Show onto a few chairs and then Daniel Bryan cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase and pinned Show. Bryan is now the World champ.

8. Cody Rhodes vs. Booker T

They kind of killed Booker’s pop by having him come out already. It was kind of a squash match. Cody pinned Booker by jumping from the second rope and hitting an enziguiri-like move called the Beautiful Disaster.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

9. Alberto Del Rio vs. The Miz vs. CM Punk

The match started with the heels double teaming on Punk. Miz side suplexed Punk on a chair. Del Rio back dropped Miz outside on a ladder. Punk was inside the ring all by his lonesome and Ricardo Rodriguez interfered, handcuffing him to the ladder. He broke the ladder to toss Del Rio off the ladder.

Punk and Miz were on top, doing a superplex spot and Del Rio hit the enziguiri and sent Punk all the way through a table on the floor. It was the best spot of the night. Del Rio also arm barred both Miz and Punk, while using the ladder. Rodriguez was dumped from the tall ladder down to the floor and through a table. OMG, as Santino would say.

Miz handcuffed Punk to the turnbuckle, but Punk took the buckle off to get unhooked. Punk hit Miz with the GTS and climbed to the top to get the belt. Pretty darn good match.

Winner: CM Punk

The show started out pretty good, died in the middle, and ended fairly well.

I admit, I’m a sucker for gimmick Pay Per Views. Royal Rumble, old-school Survivor Series, King of the Ring, and the blood-filled Hell in the Cell.

Tonight the WWE brings us Tables, Ladders and Chairs from Baltimore, with a decent-looking card. With four title matches, and a surprisingly John Cena-free card, this even could be a real sleeper.

Let’s go over the card in my predicted order.

1. Dolph Ziggler (champion) defends his United States Championship vs. Zack Ryder
Zack Ryder is at the highest point of his WWE career. He’s a callback to the 90s, with about 3-4 moves of doom, catchphrases the crowd can chant along to, and a finisher that can be hit against most wrestlers, and is looking better and better with each match. He got a chance at this match after John Cena sacrificed his shot at the WWE title. Cena then helped Ryder defeat World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry to give Ryder the title shot.

Ziggler is probably the best all-around “superstar” in the WWE right now, as he’s being allowed to do more with the mic, and always has one of the best matches on the card. He is the next big thing in wrestling, and a future multi-time World Champion. It’s hard to believe he was once “NICKY!” of the Spirt Squad (http://youtu.be/WklKOk4z1HA).

WHO SHOULD WIN: Zack Ryder. Dolph Ziggler’s road to bigger and better things is almost completely paved. He just needs to start taking the next steps. Ryder would make for a good babyface champion, with it still being amazing that his theme music invoked X-Pac heat (read: complete and utter silence from the crowd). Now folks look forward to doing the fist pump with him, shouting the “WOO WOO WOO”, and taking care while spiking their hair.

WHO WILL WIN: Zack Ryder. Please. Same reasons as above. A win for him would do good for both men. Plus there’s a 75% chance John Cena will show up to ensure Ryder wins.

2. Cody Rhodes (champion) defends his Intercontinental Championship vs. Booker T
Booker T makes his in-ring return after almost a full year when he returned to the WWE at the 2011 Royal Rumble. The five time, five time, five time, five time, five time WCW Champion (you know I wouldn’t be able to resist) has been sitting back for most of the year as an old-school commentator, with his new catchphrase being “Oh my goodness!”

He’ll be facing facing the most improved “superstar” of the year in Cody Rhodes, who is looking to bring integrity back to the Intercontinental Championship. Of course he’s been doing that by being in matches against Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan, in which his being the IC Champion has barely been mentioned. There’s a good, a bad, and another bad for Cody in this match. The bad and the bad is whether he wins or loses in this match. If he wins, he defeated a retired wrestler who has barely been in the ring. If he loses, he lost to a retired wrestler. However, just being in a match against Booker T is making people look forward to this match.

WHO SHOULD WIN: Cody Rhodes. He’ll get a good match out of Booker, but if he wants to retain the integrity of the IC Championship he needs to win this match.

WHO WILL WIN: Cody Rhodes. Sure, I’d love to see a good pop from the crowd with Booker winning the match. But he’ll get another good pop by doing his patented Spinaroonie.

3. Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett — Tables Match
Probably the start of this feud, it’s a good thing for Barrett. He got to feud with both John Cena and now Randy Orton in subsequent years. Orton got to choose the stips after winning the Beat the Clock challenge. First man through a table wins this match.

WHO SHOULD WIN: Randy Orton. Don’t look at me like that, I’m just going by the formula. The good guy wins the first PPV match in the feud, and the bad guy wants revenge.

WHO WILL WIN: If it’s a clean win, Randy Orton. If not, Barrett, with Orton getting his revenge setting up another match down the line. In other words, this is looking to be a formulaic match and feud. Prove me wrong, WWE.

4. Mark Henry (champion) defends his World Heavyweight Championship vs. Big Show - Chairs match
Yep, the third Pay Per View in a row in which Henry and Show will fight. As I wrote in my Survivor Series preview — the one that didn’t save and disappeared, but really, I wrote it — we all want to see two big monsters hit each other really, really hard. Don’t start with a hook-up. Charge at each other with your fists flying! I don’t want to see many wrestling holds in this fight. Both men are angry at each other and… okay, okay. We all know Kane is going to show up in this fight. Let’s just get to it.

WHO SHOULD WIN: Mark Henry. This man should carry to World Heavyweight Title up until WrestleMania. Kane should make an appearance in this match, and will probably be Henry’s next opponent, getting revenge for having a statue of his being placed in Henry’s Hall of Pain.

WHO WILL WIN: Mark Henry. I’m a big fan of Big Show, but it’s not the right time. Henry is doing his best to making World Title mean something, instead of it being traded back and forth like it had been throughout the year. Don’t get me started on the WWE Championship… more on that later.

5. MAIN EVENT: Triple H vs. Kevin Nash – Sledgehammer Ladder Match
C’mon now… who doesn’t want to see Kevin Nash try to climb a ladder without pulling his quad? He’s a big, mean man, but there’s a lot of younger fans who don’t know why he’s being put in such a high-up position, other than being a friend of Triple H. There was a video on WWE.com (http://vids.wwe.com/13010/wwecom-exclusive-who-is-kevin-na) entitled “Who is Kevin Nash” that would have been great if played on RAW. Alas, this may be the last time we see Nash for awhile, so drink it up, folks.

Triple H is on his own personal road to WrestleMania, with the mention of his match against Undertaker last week on RAW. He’s going to be moving on from this feud quickly (“OR SO HE THINKS!” – WWE writers) and onto the next big thing. He’s looking for revenge against Nash, and that’s about it. Sorry, I yawned halfway through writing that.

WHO SHOULD WIN: C’mon now. We all know who SHOULD win this match, and then celebrate afterwards for getting past this feud with Kevin Nash. With Nash, he’s a man on borrowed time. Watching him walk is scary, watching him run is horrifying.

WHO WILL WIN: Kevin Nash. Yep, I’m calling it. He’s going to win this match, extending this feud to another month. And I said that with a straight face. Really. Okay, not really. But I’m going out on a limb.

6. LAST MATCH ON CARD: CM Punk (champion) defends the WWE Championship against The Miz (one-time champion this year) and Alberto Del Rio (two-time champion this year) in a Triple Threat Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match

Let me pause this for a second. This year the WWE championship has changed hands 8 times. The Miz started the year as the champion, defending his belt against Cena. Then he lost the belt to Cena, who lost the belt to CM Punk, who then left and took the belt with him. A tournament was held for the now-vacated title, in which Rey Mysterio won. Mysterio lost the title the same night to John Cena, who lost his title when the returning CM Punk beat him at Summerslam to unify the titles. That same night Alberto Del Rio cashed in his Money in the Bank to win the title. John Cena then defeated Del Rio for the title. A month later Del Rio won the title back. A month after that Punk defeated Del Rio at Survivor Series. For more information, please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WWE_Champions#Reigns.

That was this year.

Earlier this week, The Miz pinned CM Punk on RAW. He’s still high on the pecking order in the WWE, whereas Del Rio may have slipped a few rungs on the ladder. Neither of these men should win tonight. I put that on my Christmas list. Please Santa, don’t let the title change again. Still, this will be a very fun match with a lot of the hard hitting you’ll find in a TLC match. Just the kind of match I like.

WHO SHOULD WIN: CM Punk. This man should hold the title to… yep, you guessed it, WrestleMania. I’d like to see some championship longevity. Please.

WHO WILL WIN: Somebody other than CM Punk. Hey, if the above Wikipedia article is true, we’re due for another champion, right? Right? Please, I hope not. I’m still picking Punk here as well.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This should be a fun show, which should made even better if there is a hot crowd. I’d be surprised if any of the major championships change. But with there being tables, chairs, ladders, monsters, and possibly aliens (read: Kane’s new Predator mask), I’m going to have a lot of fun watching this.

Holy crap! You just never know with this sport.

If upsets are the story of the night, there will be some unhappy people.

2. Brian Ebersole vs. Claude Patrick

Not the most entertaining first round, but still interesting. Patrick had a guillotine attempt on early, but Ebersole wasn’t in trouble. The rest of the round was mostly striking up against the cage, with no one really doing much, but Ebersole probably getting the better of the action. Not really sure how to score the round.

A lot of the same as the end of the first round. Who wins the round is based on who did the most damage in a round that wasn’t all that pretty to watch.

Patrick had three nice submissions, but Ebersole got out of each one. There was some great ground work and ground defense in this round and the last minute of the round was excellent.

Winner: Brian Ebersole by way of split decision

Ebersole got two of the 29-28 scores while Patrick got one. Not a lot of people happy with that decision, including one Lorenzo Fertita.

3. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Tito Ortiz

Tito started out quickly, hanging in there in the pocket with Lil’ Nog, trying to get Nog to open up so he could take him down. But Nog landed a left hand that turned the tide. Tito was taking punches on the arms, but it was a knee to the body that put him down. Nog was on top and Tito was covering up, trying to throw up his legs as if to say he was trying to work on a submission. But Nog was throwing nasty elbows/forearms to the ribs and it was stopped. Tito looks to be in a bit of pain.

Winner: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira by way of 1st round TKO

4. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir

This was an amazing one round fight. Big Nog came to fight. He staggered Mir on the feet and Mir slumped backward. Nog followed him to the ground and looked like he was going to stop him with ground and pound. For some reason, Nog went for a guillotine. He rolled over and Mir popped out of it and grabbed onto a kimura. Nog rolled over, but Mir followed through and popped his shoulder out.

Winner: Frank Mir by 1st round TKO

I guess they’re calling Mir’s victory a submission rather than a TKO because the referee stopped it before he tapped. It was nasty.

5. Lyoto Machida vs. Jon Jones

Good round for Machida. He had Jones off balanced and back pedaling. He also hit Jones with a right hand that looked like it landed flush. Jones wasn’t hurt, but it woke him up. Jones is trying to use his kicks. Machida is hard to hit clean. Interestingly, the fight was entirely on the feet. Jones didn’t shoot.

Jones finally went for a takedown and got it. He also opened up Machida with an elbow over the eye and Big John stopped the fight to check out the cut which was a huge gash. They restarted up against the cage and Jones put him in a standing guillotine. Machida went limp and it was over. Machida did a Flair flop to the ground.

Winner: Jon Jones by way of 2nd round submission

If there is ever a blood feud in boxing, this is it. These guys absolutely hate each other, and for good reason. Cotto believes that Margarito cheated in their first fight, causing his career to deter and possibly never get back to where it could’ve gone. For Margarito, Cotto keeps soiling his name and made it quite clear that if Margarito wasn’t able to get sanctioned in New York, the fight would be off.

Antonio Margarito vs. Miguel Cotto

R1
Interesting style for Cotto. He’s allowing Margarito to use his length and dictate where the fight goes, but Cotto’s showing great hand speed and isn’t just throwing one punch. His combinations look crisp. He was hit a couple times, but Cotto’s round. Cotto’s following up a left hook, but going out the back door and Margarito can’t really find him at the end of exchanges.

R2
Boxing clinic of a round for Cotto. He tattooed Margarito’s face several times with short hooks and straight right hands. Margarito’s face is going to be a mess again. Margarito landed a great body shot to end the round that seemed to rock Cotto.

R3
Cotto tagged Margarito time after time and opened up his right eye, which is the bad eye for Margarito. There was a brilliant exchange where both guys stood toe-to-toe and Cotto definitely bot the better of it. He’s fighting amazingly on the inside.

R4
Margarito landed some nice shots on the inside, but Cotto isn’t stationary and he’s having a hard time tracking him. Cotto is also getting off three punches before Margarito can get off one.

R5
Cotto took the round off offensively, but he’s dancing around Margarito. He’s up 5-0.

R6
It’s Margarito’s best round of the fight, and while I’m going to still give it to Cotto, Margarito did two things well. He went do the body on the inside, and when they were clinching, he was peppering Cotto to the ears. Cotto landed the two best shots; a buckling body shot and then a nice uppercut.

R7
Cotto’s round yet again. He landed a picturesque left hand hook while backpedaling. He stopped for one second to plant and throw it. Margarito’s eye is closed. Cotto threw three late punches after the bell.

R8
Margarito is frustrated and with two good eyes was having a hard time catching Cotto. He’s not coming close now. Cotto is still putting on a clinic. If you’re a Cotto fan, you want to see him go for the stoppage.

R9
More of the same. Cotto is targeting his eye. Cotto is being slick in that as he gets out of an exchange, he starts to bounce to his left and when Margarito comes close, he switches to southpaw and Margarito doesn’t even see the left hand coming.

The doctor stopped it and it’s over.

Winner: Miguel Cotto by way of 9th round TKO

Well, it’s what many have been waiting for. Since he left, one of the bigger questions was, “Is the Rock going to wrestle again?” That answer is yes finally.

Of course, this match is mainly a set up for their WrestleMania match in Miami. What happens here with Miz and Truth doesn’t really matter. They need to have something hot building toward Mania.

1. John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler

Crowd is chanting for Zack Ryder already. Lots of good athletic stuff back and forth. Morrison had Ziggler pinned and Vicki pulled his leg on the bottom rope. She was subsequently kicked out and copped a major fit.

Ziggler hit a sweet Fame Asser that Morrison kicked out of. Morrison hit the knee while Ziggler was sitting up and nearly killed him. He missed the Starship Pain and ate a sweet Zig Zag. Dolph Ziggler is my favorite wrestler.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler got on the mic to brag and to tell everyone to follow that and then Ryder came out to beat him up some.

2. Eve vs. Beth Phoenix

It was a lumberjills match. Beth Phoenix might’ve just killed Eve with the Glam Slam from the top rope. That looked like it sucked.

Winner: Beth Phoenix

David Otunga told CM Punk that he should apologize John Laryngitis (I like Santino’s name for him better). Punk said he would after he won the title.

Rock told his history with Madison Square Garden and then went through all of his catch phrases. And then he started singing.

3. Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Hunico, and Cody Rhodes vs. Sheamus, Sin Cara, Kofi Kingston, Mason Ryan, and Randy Orton

After Ziggler and Kofi traded, Orton was tagged in and immediately RKO’d him and pinned him. Jeez.

Sin Cara was eliminated after hurting his knee doing a tope and they just said he was eliminated.

Cody Rhodes pinned Mason Ryan after the Cross Rhodes. Holy jeez. Never expected that to happen.

Wade Barrett just Wastelanded Kofi Kingston. It’s now Hunico, Swagger, Rhodes and Barrett vs. Sheamus and Orton.

Sheamus was DQ’d for going crazy. So it’s Orton against four. Sheamus Brogue kicked Swagger before he left allowing Orton to pin him.

Hunico was tagged in and dove off the rope at Orton and was RKO’d. But then Orton was Wastelanded and the match was over.

Winner: Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes

To show how much trending doesn’t matter, after the match, Hunico was trending.

4. The Big Show vs. Mark Henry

The match was very slow. Henry did some impressive World’s Strongest Slams. Show went to the top and hit a scary elbow dropped and the NY crowd started a Randy Savage chant. Then, Henry just kicked him right in the nuts and was DQ’d.

Winner: The Big Show

After the match, Henry tried to Pillmanize his ankle, but he missed off the top rope. Show hit him with the big right hand and then Pillmanized Henry’s ankle with a big leg drop.

5. Alberto Del Rio vs. CM Punk

They brought the Fink out as the special rin announcer for the match.

The match started out slowly, but really picked up and was good. They both worked the match around submissions, with Del Rio trying to get the arm bar, which he did, but Punk caught the bottom rope with his foot. Del Rio had Punk rolled up and he pulled his trunks, exposing his backside. Punk won with the Anaconda Vice. It was the best match of the show so far.

Winner: CM Punk

Punk did some crowd diving after the match.

6. The Miz and R-Truth vs. John Cena and The Rock

Rock was in first and did some trademark stuff just to show that he’s still in shape. He had a fisherman’s suplex locked in for a pin, but Cena was in the ring at the same time, pissing Rock off.

Cena got tagged in and put a hurting on Truth and was about to do the five knuckle shuffle, but decided to tell Rock that he couldn’t see him. And then Truth got the upper hand.

Well, the finish wasn’t all that creative. Cena took a beating for a good 10 minutes before getting the hot tag to Rock. Rock did all his trademarked stuff including the Rock Bottom, Sharpshooter, and People’s Elbow, which he used to finish off Miz.

Winner: The Rock And John Cena

Cena clapped at Rock and that made Rock mad. They did the posing in the corner deal so that Rock could get cheered and Cena could get booed. And then for no reason whatsoever, Rock just Rock Bottomed him to death and threw him out of the ring. Um, okay.

UFC is coming from San Jose, CA, my home town, and while I’m not there to give the live play by play, Cactus Jim is there and will be sending in his live thoughts to pepper in with my play by play. He has live thoughts on the full undercard here: http://fightgameblog.com/2011/11/ufc-139-undercard-results-with-live-thoughts/.

The main event is a battle of Pride stars, so there’s a historical slant to this card. With Wanderlei Silva in the semi-main event, I have a feeling lots of Pride fans who don’t currently watch a ton of UFC, may be checking this show out tonight.

There’s also a San Jose flavor to the show with Kyle Kingsbury, Cung Le, and Urijah Faber (close by) all on the show.

Cactus Jim said the crowd might not be rooting for Le necessarily. He said: I think Wanderlei is going to be the crowd favorite in his fight. Definitely not like the Strikeforce reaction to the pre-fight Cung Le footage. Lots of boos.

1. Kyle Kingsbury vs. Stephan Bonnar

The first round was a good slugfest. Bonnar pushed the pace and didn’t let Kingsbury get into any kind of rhythm. He bloodied his nose with a big right hand. Kingsbury looks strong and wanted to make it physical, but Bonnar was all over him. Strong round for Bonnar.

Round two was completely different. Bonnar immediately took it to the ground and controlled Kingsbury the entire round. He tried to little brother him, but Kingsbury is so strong.

Cactus Jim said: Big pop for the old balls on the nose move.

Round three was more of the same. Cactus Jim said the crowd was getting restless at Bonnar continually in side control and Kingsbury not able to do anything.

Winner: Stephan Bonnar by way of unanimous decision

Bonnar got two 10-8 rounds on one card. He also apologized to Josh Koscheck for printing the shirts when he asked him not to.

Cain Velasquez was in the crowd in a blue Mick Foley shirt and said he’d be back.

I think Martin Kampmann is coming down to the ring to Three 6 Mafia’s It’s A Fight from the Rocky Balboa soundtrack.

2. Rick Story vs. Martin Kampmann

Great first round. Both guys came out throwing big shots. Kampmann started to use his length near the end of the round. Story was getting inside and really dictating where the fight was going. Kampmann was cut off a huge right, and Story was also cut in the round. Cactus Jim thought Story won a close round and if I had to choose, I’d go him as well. Could’ve been a 10-10 too.

Kampmann started to take over by finding his distance with his punches and then did a trip takedown on Story and finished the round on top of him. I’d imagine it’s 1-1 on many cards.

Slow third round after a pretty exciting one and a half rounds. Kampmann slowed the fight down and made it a physical wrestling match. They both took each other down, but Kampmann possibly wins the round by taking Story’s back and going for a choke at the end of the round.

Winner: Martin Kampmann by way of split decision

One judge had it 29-28 for Story and two judges had it for Kampmann.

After slow ends to the first two fights, Cactus Jim says that the graphic to the Faber/Bowles fight got people on their feet. I think they expect this is where the card picks up.

3. Brian Bowles vs. Urijah Faber

This is a great round for Urijah Faber. He was in and out with his boxing, landing several shots and a couple of combinations and most importantly, stayed away from Bowles’ right hand. Urijah got a takedown late, fought through a guillotine attempt and was going for broke on top. Bowles got a nice upkick in there. Cactus Jim also has Urijah winning the round.

What a performance by Faber. He’d attempted a few uppercuts in the first round and finally landed one. Bowles buckled against the cage and Faber followed up with hard shots. Bowles was fighting off his back, trying to defend himself and did a good job. Faber turned him over and sunk in a guillotine and Bowles had to tap out.

Winner: Urijah Faber by 2nd round submission

4. Cung Le vs. Wanderlei Silva

Cactus Jim says there was a mix of boos and cheers for Cung Le, while Wanderlei receive big cheers. He also says that Le looks soft in the middle.

Silva started fighting a bit defensively and then just started winging punches. Either his punches are predictable, or Le has him perfectly scouted because every time Wanderlei winds up, Le’s out of there. Lots of swings and misses for Silva. Le nearly dropped him with a spinning back fist and then nailed him with a kick. Wanderlei cut him with a straight right and nailed him a kick of his own. He finished the round strong by getting inside and landing shorter punches.

Le’s kicks are slowing down and Silva can see them coming better. Silva landed two clean right hands that snapped Le’s head back. When Le comes inside to start the exchanges, he gets hit with a right hand. Silva is a really good counter puncher right now. Silva had him hurt with a nasty right hand and Le went for a takedown. Silva stuffed it and hit three nasty knees before Le could even get his wits about him. Silva dropped him and Le was holding on for dear life, taking hammer shots and it was stopped.

Winner: Wanderlei Silva by way of 2nd round TKO

Cactus Jim says he saw Dave Batista who left right after the fight and looked upset.

5. Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua

Cactus Jim says neither guy got as big of a reaction as Silva or Le did in the prior fight.

Shogun took Henderson down, but Henderson popped up and put him in a guillotine. He then hit him with a nasty knee to the face and threw about 10 straight punches, with about half of them connecting. Shogun is a bloody mess already. Shogun dropped Henderson, but Henderson grabbed on his leg and took him down and then threw a right hand that landed. I have the round for Hendo as does Cactus Jim.

I thought Hendo might be tired, but he was still throwing huge punches and landing. Though, Shogun is standing toe-to-toe with him now, seemingly less afraid of getting knocked out. Yet another strong round for Henderson, but it was much closer. Shogun looks to have found his range a bit as well.

Henderson nearly ended it with a right hand. He got on top of him and was landing shot after shot. Shogun couldn’t even get his hands up to defend himself, but then finally turtled up. He grabbed Henderson’s leg and then was back on his feet. I’m not sure how he’s even standing. His face is a bloody mess. He’s leaning on Henderson against the cage, with both men taking a bit of a rest. Henderson was landing elbows and then Shogun took him down. They’re both tired.

Shogun started the round with a takedown. Henderson got Shogun’s back and then Shogun rolled toward him and Hendo was on top of him, but they decided to get back on their feet. Hendo quickly shot in with a double leg of his own. Hendo looks absolutely done. Shogun takes him down and had his back and lost it. Henderson’s just laying on top of him now.

Shogun is in complete control now. Henderson is trying to hold on to outlast him. But these last two rounds could’ve been 10-8s for Shogun. The scoring is going to be crazy. Shogun is trying to finish on top. Henderson lasted. This is probably 10-8, but round three could’ve been 10-8 for Hendo. It’s too bad these guys couldn’t do it again on the UFC on Fox 2 show. I have Henderson winning by 1 point.

Winner: Dan Henderson by way of unanimous decision

Henderson won 48-47 on all cards, so no 10-8 rounds for the judges.
