Last weekend with WWE in Los Angeles for SummerSlam, Triple H sat down for an interview with Grantland head honcho Bill Simmons and wrestling writer David Shoemaker @AKATheMaskedMan.
The interview was a fun read. Triple H represented himself as a hard worker who has been a big star in the past and loves the business so much that he wants to give back by being a front office executive. He even gave up a bit of insight, outing CM Punk’s pipe bomb as just part of the storyline.
But there was one story he told that came across as petty and just seemed like a lie. I wondered if the real story would come out. And it did.

One could be conspicuous of the news because you’d imagine that WWE.com would want to break this story, but Darren Young’s admission to TMZ that he’s gay has media calling him wrestling’s Jason Collins. Hardcore pro wrestling fans know there have been several gay wrestlers who haven’t hid their sexuality, but this is the first time to my knowledge of a pro wrestling coming out publicly. It was teased over the weekend that 2K Sports would be announcing a new mode for WWE 2K14 today. This comes on the heels that the Ultimate Warrior would be in the new game.
I will say that the announcement was worth the wait, at least for this video game fan. For the first time in a very long time, I’m interested in the new WWE video game.
According to WWE.2K.com, it’s a new mode called 30 Years Of WrestleMania.
The mode covers 45 legendary WrestleMania matches including three that have been announced so far – Andre The Giant vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania III, The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania X-8, and The Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania XXVIII. With that information at least Andre and Hogan are in the game. But there is a promise of much more according to the article. Continue reading
