With the new year now upon us, it’s time to look back at 2013. We’ll take a look at the best in boxing, pro wrestling, and MMA.
First up is boxing, which had a really good year when it came to building up new fighters, showcasing their best, and creating interesting fights for 2014. The 2014 Breakthrough Star is all about who we think makes that big jump in 2014.

If you missed the year end boxing podcast that I did with Duan, check out it. It was a really fun 85 minutes of pure boxing talk. One of the things we did was look forward to 2014 and try to come up with fights that make sense for some of the bigger named fighters.
The biggest of course is a possible Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight. It would’ve been the biggest possible fight in the last eight years and I don’t think that changes in 2014. It’s still bigger than any other fight out there. And yet, I don’t expect it to happen for all the reasons we’ve gone over 100 times. Continue reading →
In the latest issue of Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer, he had one line about Batista probably coming back to WWE for WrestleMania and quickly moved on.
On the Wrestling Observer website today, Meltzer wrote a small story saying that he’s coming back for a significant role and he’s already advertised for a show in Las Vegas on February 16, which is actually a house show and not a TV taping. So, unless things change, he will be on the road for more than just TVs.
It does look like he’ll be back soon. Wrestling fans should rejoice. He’s someone who WWE has dearly missed.
In a press conference with Georges St-Pierre and Dana White earlier Friday, St-Pierre announced that he was going to take some necessary time off. He mentioned pressure as being the main reason. He said that physically, he feels 100%, but mentally, he feels the weight on his shoulders and mentioned his own obsession with his next fight as the big reason. Continue reading →
