2017 Royal Rumble Live Coverage

Royal Rumble live coverage

Follow along with our Royal Rumble live coverage.

I literally just got into town and have been following the Royal Rumble on Twitter.

Here are the results for the early matches, per the Wrestling Observer:

- Naomi pinned Alexa Bliss in the 6-woman tag team match from the Smackdown side.

- Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson beat Sheamus and Cesaro to win the Raw tag team titles.

- Nia Jax beat Sasha Banks in a squash.

- Charlotte beat Bayley to keep her Raw women’s title.

Roman Reigns Vs Kevin Owens

I didn’t see the beginning of the match, but what I saw was really good and kind of ridiculous.

Reigns hit Owens with a Superman punch with Owens on the top rope and he fell into a bunch of chairs stacked onto each other. Then Reigns power bombed him through the announcer’s table. As he was about to throw him into the ring to pin him, Braun Strowman interfered and threw Reigns into the ring post and then chokeslammed him onto one of the announcer’s table. It didn’t break. He then powerslammed him into the corner, through a perched table. Owens then pinned Reigns.

Winner: Kevin Owens

Neville Vs Rich Swann

It was a pretty good match, though the crowd didn’t really get into it. Both guys are just athletic as all hell.

Both were on the top rope and Swann pushed Neville back toward the mat, but he did a backflip and landed on his feet. Swann jumped toward him, but forward rolled onto his feet. He kicked Neville, but was kicked back. Then he hit his finisher kick, but Neville got his feet on the ropes.

Neville hit a superplex and then put Swann in a brutal crossface to win the match. He’s the new champ.

Winner: Neville

AJ Styles Vs John Cena

The crowd is already insane for this match and it hasn’t even started yet. The loud ones really want to see AJ win this match.

Cena wanted a superplex, but instead, Styles put him on his shoulders and in the torture rack before dropping him and sitting out.

Cena hit a AA for a two count. AJ hit the Phenomenal Forearm for a two count. Cena put AJ in the electric chair and dropped him into a facebuster. There were some submission tradeoffs with AJ going for the calf killer and Cena with the STFU. AJ then put him in an STFU. Cena herc’d him up and got to his feet. AJ got out of it and it looked like Cena was going to use the Styles Clash, but went to a Figure Four. A Figure Four? AJ went for an armbar and Cena rampage bombed him.

Cena came off the top rope, but Styles caught him and Cena hit the mat. Styles then hit the Styles Clash for a two count. AJ came off the ropes with a 450, but Cena got his feet up. Cena then hit the Code Red. AJ picked up Cena in a fireman’s carry and then dropped his neck on his knee. Cena hit the Super AA from the top rope and AJ kicked out.

Cena hit another AA, rolled through, picked him up again, and finished him with another AA. I’m not into doing star ratings like some, but you could definitely go 4 1/2 stars for that one. It was good stuff. But there was too many moves for the sake of doing moves, which you can do when guys are super smooth, but it’s not really Cena.

Winner: John Cena

2017 Royal Rumble

Big Cass and Chris Jericho are your first two. I’ve seen Jericho as a dark horse pick for this match. Jericho jumped off the top rope and ate a big boot. Kalisto is 3rd. Mojo Rawley is 4th and he and Cass go at it. Rawley looks weird in his trunks with his white legs. Jack Gallagher is number 5 and he goes after Kalisto, but Jericho hits him from behind. He poses for the fans and Gallagher hits him in the ballsack with the umbrella.

Mark Henry is number 6. No one has been eliminated yet. Gallagher goes after Henry with headbutts and Henry sends him through the ropes. Gallagher jumps off the top rope to attack Mark Henry with his umbrella opened. Henry sends him out like he’s Mary Poppins. Braun Stroman is number 7. Strowman sends out Rawley. Big Cass misses a big boot and he goes out. Strowman throws out Kalisto. It’s Strowman and Henry. Strowman throws out Henry too. Sami Zayn is 8. He takes a beating from Strowman. Big Show is in at 9. Jericho is still chillin’ outside the ring. Strowman clotheslines Show. He tries to throw him out, but Show catches him and chokeslams him. Jericho came in just to get punched back out by Show. Strowman muscles Show over the top. Tye Dillinger comes in at 10. Dillinger and Zayn double team him. They try a double suplex and can’t get it, but Strow suplexes them both.

James Ellsworth is 11. Ellsworth hasn’t come into the ring yet. Strowman almost gets dumped. Dean Ambrose is 12. He tricks Ellsworth into going into the ring and he’s quickly eliminated. Dean goes after Strow. The three babyfaces are trying to triple team Strowman, but badly. Jericho is still taking a siesta outside the ring. Baron Corbin is 13. Strowman throws out Dillinger. Zayn Heluva kicks the hell out of Strowman. Corbin then clotheslines him out. Corbin? Kofi Kingston is 14. The Miz is number 15.

Miz goes after Ambrose, but eats a Deep Six from Corbin. Kofi’s spot this year was to be sitting on the top rope, get hit and catching himself on the top ringpost and then getting back in the ring. Sheamus gets the spot at number 17 to hit his big moves on everyone. He hits Miz with the forearm spot. Big E is 17. New Day is working together. Rusev is out next. The ring is piling up with guys. Cesaro is next. Cesaro just starts swinging guys. Xavier Woods is 20. All of New Day is in the ring.

Bray Wyatt is 21. Woods and Wyatt go toe-to-toe and Wyatt takes his head off with a clothesline. Apollo Crews is number 22. It seems like they’re waiting for Goldberg or Lesnar to empty the ring. Goldberg should probably be 30 so that he doesn’t blow up. Sheamus and Cesaro tossed out all three New Day. Then Sheamus tried to send out Cesaro, but Jericho tossed them both out. Young Randall Orton is number 23. He started hitting RKOs (out of nowhere). Zayn came off the top rope and ate one too. Dolph Ziggler is 24. They’re really setting up for a strong finish. Luke Harper is number 25. All three Wyatts are in.

Harper throws out Crews. Crews eyes Orton. Wyatt tries to stop him. Harper then blasts Wyatt and goes after Orton. Harper goes for the Sister Abigail on Bray Wyatt, but Orton gives him the RKO. It’s Brock Lesnar time. He’s number 26. He kills Dean Ambrose with a clothesline and tosses him. Ziggler too. He suplexes everyone and then gives Miz and Orton F5s. Everyone is so dead. Enzo Amore is 27. He goes after Brock as everyone else is dead. He gets clotheslined out of his shoes. And he’s dumped out. Goldberg is 28. Goldberg hits a spear. And then eliminates Lesnar with a clothesline. He’s got his number. Goldberg hits the Jack Hammer on Zayn. Wyatt and Orton double team Goldberg, but they get double speared. The Undertaker is 29. He appeared in the ring rather than walked down the aisle. He grabbed Goldberg by the throat. Corbin attacked Taker. Rusev attacked Rusev. Golberg tosses Rusev. Taker throws out Corbin. Goldberg spears Taker. Goldberg throws out Harper. Taker throws out Goldberg. Taker is cleaning house. Roman Reigns is 30.

Taker dumps Miz and Zayn. Reigns throws Taker out. They stare at each other. It’s final four time. Jericho, Orton, Wyatt, and Reigns. Reigns tries to toss Jericho over, but he doesn’t go over. He goes to the top and eats a Superman punch. Jericho is out. It’s Wyatt and Orton going after Reigns. Orton DDTs Reigns. Bray sets up Sister Abigail. Orton gets in RKO stance. Reigns fights it and hits two Superman punches. He tosses Bray Wyatt out. Reigns goes for the spear and Orton hits the RKO. He tosses out Reigns.
