The Countdown to UFC 177 show has its work cut out for it.
Hype shows are great to get people excited about upcoming shows. But what if the upcoming show isn’t one that people are looking forward to seeing? What if the upcoming show is better suited for a Fight Pass show rather than an actual PPV show that costs the same as nearly 6 months of fight pass?
Well, I’m not sure a show like this matters.
All of that being said, there is some interesting stuff in here. For those wondering what kind of Renan Barao we’re going to see, he looks to be training hard and in really good shape so far. I guess we’ll have to wait until the weigh-ins. As for TJ Dillashaw, he’s as confident as ever. He might be more than just confident. He’s damn near cocky.
They showed him doing local media and the fight will be in Sacramento, California which is the town he fights out of, so you wonder if that will have anything to do with his preparation.
This show is so void of actual star power that they only talked about two fights. They usually talk about three. The semi-main event is Danny Castillo who is a teammate of Dillashaw and faces Tony Ferguson, a former TUF winner.
Their focus was more on Castillo talking about his hot pilates business and talking a bit of trash to Ferguson. Ferguson’s personality doesn’t really shine through.
You can watch both parts below.
