The Ultimate Fighter Season 13 – Team Lesnar Vs. Team Dos Santos Episode 5

Brock goes off on his team after the last fight and Len leaves the room, saying he fought his heart out. Very team-like thing to do bro. Brock wants them to put their balls on the line. Brock says they aren’t going to give the Ultimate Fighter to them. It will bring out the real person in there and they can’t hide. Brock says it ain’t a team sport. This is the best promo of the season.

In the house, Len decides to cut a promo on Brock saying that he won’t let someone who he doesn’t like, talk about him. I hope the guy gets in via the wild card, or else it’s all for nothing.

Junior Dos Santos chooses Mick from his team, to fight Clay from Team Lesnar. They’re trying to build this fight up as a battle of strikers. Some of the dudes on Team Lesnar think that Chris is a spy for Team Dos Santos. Chris says he’s in fact, not a double agent. While eating smores, he calls it out in front of everyone and says he’s a person of integrity. His team doesn’t believe him because someone wrote that he was a double agent in the sand. He calls Tony out for writing it in the sand.

Mick admitted to writing it in the sand, so Team Lesnar is off with their accusations.

Audio Doc: Big Fight Week – Khan vs. McCloskey

Published by Duan under Audio,Boxing

This is a new audio documentary Steve Bunce recorded for the BBC; breaking down the shambolic build up to (and fall out from) the Amir Khan vs. Paul McCloskey title fight earlier this month.

Bunce was on hand all fight week as the story unfolded. He speaks with everyone involved in the show from the Boxers, promoters, matchmakers, and managers, down to the undercard fighters, ring announcers and press. Steve is the only guy in the Boxing media who could make a project like this work. A fascinating insight into what goes into staging a fight of this magnitude.

WWE Tough Enough Episode 4

Published by GG under Pro Wrestling,TV Shows,Tough Enough

And now, for my favorite hour of television of the week.

Last week, Mickael proved to not be tough enough after Skid Mark owned him in the promo challenge. And Rima still has immunity. It pays to be attractive. Michelle also left so that she could go back to her daughter, Piper.

The crew was definitely surprised to see Rima come back to the house, but shocked that Ryan came back instead of Mickael. AJ said he was surprised, but he’s thankful because he thought Mickael was the tougher competitor.

Rima has special training time with Bill at midnight. Rima looks worse than me and my buddies when were were 12 years old at my mom’s house. DeMott tells Rima that she’s hurt. She says she’s not quitting. None of the stuff she had to do looked super hard.

Bret Hart is the special guest this week. Hart says he prided himself about not injuring anyone and says agility is most important. He said he wrestled just as hard in front of 500 people as he did in front of 90,000.

They are doing an agility drill called In And Out and I don’t think it has anything to do with hamburgers. They have to jump from the apron into the ring, by going over the top rope off two feet. They can use the top rope for momentum. Luke and Jeremiah looked the best doing the drill. On the girl’s side, Alicia Fox’s sister Christina did the best.

2011 WWE Draft Thoughts

Published by GG under News,Pro Wrestling,WWE

I have so many issues with the idea of the WWE draft. First of all, it’s not really a draft as we know it. Sports fans will see in three days what a real draft is all about. NFL teams have been preparing for months to select the best collegiate players and sign them to their teams. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell isn’t going to have the 49ers and Raiders play rock/paper/scissors for the right to have an automater generate a random player to be placed on their team. Because that’s what the WWE draft is.

Another thing that bothers me is the idea that anyone on Smackdown or Raw would care to win a battle royal so that their brand would win the right for the random generator to give them someone from the other roster. If it was a team sport, sure. But if you’re Kofi Kingston who is being jobbed out left and right, why would you care to win the battle royal tonight so that John Cena would come to his side and knock him down yet another peg? Wouldn’t it be in his best interest to throw the match so that his brand loses someone and theoretically, he could go up the ladder?

The big talk of the first hour was that John Cena was “drafted” to Smackdown. But it was null and void when at the end of the show, Cena was drafted back to Raw, which is maybe the single most idiotic thing I’ve seen in wrestling in the last few years. I haven’t felt like I’ve wasted my time watching wrestling lately, but tonight I felt like whatever time I invested was spit on and walked all over. And guess what PPV I won’t be buying this weekend? I’ll give you a hint. It’s not UFC.

I don’t know why it’s such a big deal that WWE pulled the bait and switch and swerve on the fans. They change plans all the time and can’t tell stories to save their WWE Universe lives, but I was still deeply offended at the switch.
