Aftermath – WWE 2010 Elimination Chamber

Published by GG at 12:53 pm under Aftermath,Pro Wrestling,WWE

We all generally liked the former No Way Out. If Elimination Chamber was a two hour show, it might’ve been one of the great PPVs of our time. Sadly, there was a middle hour that dropped it down a notch.

Here’s what we had to say about the show:

We talked about it in detail on the last edition of FGB Radio. Show had an awesome opener and closer with the chambers and successfully set up a multitude of matches for Wrestlemania without sacrificing match-quality. I liked the surprise of Batista and HBK (even I predicted it verbatim on our Rumble postgame) and it’s good to see Jericho with the belt again.

This was a two match PPV if ever there was one. The middle hour came very close to killing the show for me, but fortunately it was bookended by two fantastic chamber matches. The fact that the Smackdown guys managed to bring the crowd back to life was a real testament to just how hard everyone worked. It’s brilliant to see Jericho back on top, and I’m glad they have taken Sheamus out of the main event mix for Mania. The last thing that company needs right now is another Hunter main event that nobody cares about. WWE have momentum on their side now, and I have faith that they can carry it through to the big night. I also can’t wait to see the shellacking Orton has in store for Dibiase.

Ok, the women’s match was probably worse technically, but I actually wanted to see Simply Flawless on this show more than I did Kane or even McIntyre.

I really liked this show but more so as a two hour show than a three hour show. I thought the opening hour with the Raw chamber match and the closing hour with the Smackdown chamber match were both equally entertaining, but that middle hour was horrendous.

I loved both chamber matches in the stories they told, but wished that they teased the Batista back door title shot a little more so that it would’ve been more of an “Aha!” moment. Maybe even more entertaining than the chamber matches themselves were how the future feuds were allowed to start inside the chamber. You had HHH/Sheamus, Ted Jr./Randy, Rey/Punk, and Michaels/Undertaker all being highlighted inside the chamber. They didn’t give you too much or too little with each.

Lastly, I thought Rey Rey and Kofi looked excellent and were probably my favorite wrestlers of the night.
