The Ultimate Fighter Season 10: The Heavyweights – Episode 9

Published by GG at 1:16 am under Mixed Martial Arts,TV Shows,The Ultimate Fighter,UFC

We are in the quarterfinals now.

Rashad says that his team isn’t going to do much coaching anymore because it would show a bias and he doesn’t want to do that to his guys.

Big Country thinks it’s weird to train next to the guy he’s going to fight.

Meat Head more than likely has a concussion. He says his eyes are sensitive to light. Justin thinks he’s milking it a bit. Titties thinks he might be dehydrated. Brendan thinks it’s a concussion too and everyone thinks Kimbo is coming back into the tournament.

They showed a lot of training with Kimbo and Kimbo says that he’s just adding more tools to his tool belt. Rashad is all for Kimbo coming back to replace Meat Head, if need be.

In a scene straight out of WWE, Team Rampage put a bunch of chickens (cocks) in Rashad’s car. Then, straight out of Rocky, Team Rashad tried to chase and catch the chickens. Rampage was surprised that Rashad wasn’t pissed.

Dana came to the house and says it’s up to the doctor for whether Meat Head is going to fight. Scott Junk also wants the spot if Matt can’t go. Matt says he might’ve had concussions from football too.

Kimbo says that Roy has better hands and is a black belt and just has more tools than Justin. Kimbo compares Justin to a fat boy sneaking donuts. Brendan says it’s going to be a stand-up war because they’ll cancel each other out on the ground.

Roy says that he thinks Justin looks up to him a little bit because he’s been in the business a long time. He says that he’s a really good guy and is going to be a life long friend.

Lots of time left in the show so we may see a three rounder.

The coaches aren’t in the corners, just the fighters.

Justin Wren vs. Roy Nelson

Justin tagged him early and Roy looked to be hurt. Roy then pushed him up against the cage. It was a stand-up fight for the rest of the round. Justin was hitting the harder punches, but Roy was hitting and moving and getting some leg kicks in. Justin was more impressive.

Justin scored the best shot of the round which was a left hook that pushed Nelson back a bit. But the rest of the round was just boxing. Roy would throw punches and Justin would counter. It’s probably Nelson’s rounds just because he’s controlling the stand-up. Justin was way blown up at the end of the round.

No third round.

Winner: Roy Nelson by way of majority decision

Well, then. In the third, it was probably Roy’s fight anyway, but I think it was split.

Roy told Dana that he tried to make it a little more entertaining. Dana said the only thing that was exciting was him getting beat up in the first. But he did say that when Roy is exciting he’ll give him his props.

For next week, it’s Jon Madsen vs. Brendan Schaub and they keep teasing that Kimbo is going to take Meat Head’s spot.

I was tempted to call this a robbery because Justin is my favorite fighter from the season but I really can’t. I do think a third round should have happened, but Nelson would have taken it in that case anyway.

That being said, Justin should walk away with his head held very high. At 22, the youngest fighter on the show, he beat a former UFC fighter in Wes Sims and stood toe-to-toe with Roy Nelson who was a heavy favorite to win the show anyway.

I think Wren has a bright future. His ground game was good enough to keep Nelson standing and his fists showed promise. I hope the UFC gives him a contract to fight at the finale and he makes a home in the UFC.

I thought he fought well. But like we’ve said, he could probably lose some weight and drop down.

Speaking of TUF, has anyone seen the pictures of Titties before the show?

    Brother was cut.

Did he gain weight just for the show?

I’m thinking so. Not uncommon for guys to add mass (not necessarily bulk lol) to get on the show.
