Rear Naked Ramblings – Pacquiao/Cotto And New UFC 103 Main Event
First, let’s start with some boxing news.
Pacquiao/Cotto Will Fight On November 14
Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto will meet in a boxing lover’s dream fight on November 14, according to ESPN.com writer Dan Rafael. The fight has been heavily rumored for the last few weeks and even though Sugar Shane Mosley has tried his darndest to get Pacquiao first (even saying he could make 140 pounds), it’s Pacquiao/Cotto.
Here’s a quote from Bob Arum:
While I was away I reached a verbal agreement with each side. Pacquiao committed to the fight this weekend and Cotto the week before while I was in Israel. I was on the phone all the time trying to get this done.
As usual with Manny Pacquiao fights, the weight is a huge deal. It looks like they’ve decided to fight at 145 pounds, which is just two pounds below Miguel Cotto’s current weight class.
New UFC 103 Main Event
UFC.com broke the story and the collective MMA community let out a slight groan. UFC 103, which goes head up with Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez, was rumored to be light on the main event. One of the first rumors I heard was Rick Franklin vs. Luiz Cane. We’ve also heard that Mirko Cro Cop would fight Junior Dos Santos in the main event. That has now changed.
We’re going to see Rich Franklin take on Dan Henderson in their second fight of the year. The first fight saw Dan Henderson take a close decision, which allowed him to coach Team USA on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter.
Here’s what some of the FGB crew had to say:
Alan: That is fucking sucky.
Big D: Boooo. Hendo will win again.
Duan: Yuck. No need for it at all. No possible outcome can help to build anything.
Cactus Jim: Same result as a few months ago.
Ladies and gentlemen, your UFC 103 main event!
And just because I wanted to get something wrestling related into the post, I’ve included the video of the infamously bad women’s match from last night’s TNA PPV. I’m not sure what Jenna was trying to do with her entrance.
She was trying to show us the inside of her asshole.
That headline is pretty weak. Its a good fight but not good enough to be the main draw.
I actually watched the first fight last night and it was solid but unspectacular. What is interesting is I thought Franklin’s plan was to move up to 205.
Does the winner of this fight get a title shot with Anderson Silva?
Actually, from what I’ve heard, this is at 205.
Their last fight was at 205 as well. I was under the impression that Henderson-Franklin I was at 185 and the second fight would be at 205.
That would have been interesting.
Ya, I’m not sure about Hendo yo-yoing his weight, but at 205, I think it’s his fight again.
This could be considered as fight of the year and whoever wins this fight will be the one who will shut up mayweather’s dirty mouth.
