Video – Ray Mercer Knocks Tim Sylvia Out Cold
I am absolutely not sure what to make of this. But Tim Sylvia just got knocked out by near 50-year old Ray Mercer in 10 seconds.

Tim Sylvia has put himself in a very bad position here. It’s going to be hard for him to secure any decent fights after this. He just got KO’d by am ancient man; there can’t be much reward left in beating him, and he still presents a lot of difficulty for guys because of his massive size.
I actually like Tim. I think he’s a decent guy who gets a lot of hassle that he doesn’t deserve, but just for making this match they deserved to have it backfire on them.
Ray get mauled in K1 and then there was that Kimbo debacle. In both it was clear that he had not attempted to round out his skills, and was just looking for a pay day. I sort of thought it would be the same here. The kimbo fight in particular gave me the impression that he was just a washed up guy chasing a paycheck.
There was a part of me though that was thinking Mercer was once a really damn good boxer. Even if he is diminished he should be able to hold his own in a boxing match with someone of Sylvia’s talents. I certainly didn’t expect a 10 second waxing though.
I’m old enough to remember Mercer in the Olympics. But here’s what’s weird about this fight.
It’s a boxing match in a cage that couldn’t be sanctioned as a boxing match. They agreed to just throw hands. So Sylvia is in his comfort zone and simply has to keep this guy at bay. Now this was the same shot Randy Couture threw that knocked him on his ass. But Randy wasn’t wearing boxing gloves. Mercer knocked him silly with boxing gloves. Obviously, Mercer has a better right hand than Randy, but still.
Is it weird to everyone else that in big boxing gloves, Sylvia went down so easily? Was it just the perfect shot?
Boxers hit hard. Really, really hard. And sylvia showed no defense at all. It was a perfectly clean shot.
Are you sure they weren’t just mma gloves. It’s hard to tell in the video, but they don’t look like 8 oz gloves.
Ya, I can’t actually tell. I just assumed. I think there are better videos out there. I’ll try to find another view.
