New Poll – UFC 100: Who Will Win Between Brock Lesnar And Frank Mir?
We’re going to let this poll stay up for the entire month.
This is the biggest fight of the year and I want to know who everyone thinks will win.
Will it be the former NCAA heavyweight champion, former WWE champion, and current holder of 1/2 of the UFC heavyweight title, Brock Lesnar?
Or will it be the jiu-jitsu expert and longtime UFC main event star, and holder of the other 1/2 of the UFC heavyweight title, Frank Mir?
You can vote in the upper right hand corner of the website.
This will be a very exciting fight just to see how Frank Mir wil approach Lesnar. Now lesnar has alot of experience in just a few fights and hopefully knows not to go to the ground with mir. Frank Mir should TRY to go for the takedown and work from there. Otherwise he’s screwed, just look at Heith Herring and Randy Couture to realize Lesnar is just to much of a beast for Mir to swing with him. I would love to see Mir win but Lesnar just got too big on steroids when he was in the WWE. I really donthink its fair for someone to get huge on steroids and retain the muscle after you quit taking them, then enter competition like the UFC.
The steroids stuff is too hard to call because we just don’t know and are making assumed opinions, but the fight itself is going to be fun.
I think Mir’s best chance is to stand up with him because I don’t think Brock’s boxing is that good. But Mir has to stay away from the heavy hands and I’m not sure he’s going to be good enough to do that.
Thanks for the comment!
Yes you are right I don’t think that anyone has the chin for Lesnar’s hands. The fight will more than likely be ended by knockout rather than submission. If the fight goes to the ground, then Mir will definitely try to keep it there.
It will be interesting to see what happens if it goes to the ground. I’m sure if Brock wants it there, it will go there. But does he want it there?
I think its funny when someone always pulls out the steroid card just because a guy is way bigger than whoever writes it will ever be. The dude has passed over 60 tests and has never dropped dirty. Lesnar will knock Mir out in the second round. They will feel each other out in the first and then it will be game on in the second. as far as mir taking lesnar to the ground, lol good luck with that. Lesnar can and will determine how this fight will go and there really isnt that much Mir can do about it.
At this point, whether we think a guy is on steroids or not is just opinion. We’re not condemning guys really because the fact of the matter is, steroids exist in sports, whether we like it or not.
I don’t publicly make assumptions, but off the record, I totally think certain guys are on. But again, it’s just an assumption. None of us know for sure. I’m sure guys have figured out to pass these tests all the time.
As for the fight, I’m going to watch each guy’s last few fights, but I’m leaning toward what you said Cody. I think Lesnar determines where everything goes, unless Mir’s stand-up is better than we think.
If the fight goes to the ground I give the edge to Mir, however if Brock gets on top i don’t think that Mir can beat him. If standing up you have to give the edge to Brock.
So if i had to pick right now I’d go with Brock however if Mir wins it would be a sight to behold
Prediction – Brock wins via 2nd Rd KO
Good stuff Peter.
I have a couple thoughts about whether or not each guy wants to go to the ground. If Brock’s on top, Mir can work for a submission, but how long can he do it until he just gets too tired? And, does Brock want it to be like the Herring fight where he just smothered him on top the whole fight?
Also, let’s say that Mir’s boxing is controlling Brock (which we don’t know if that will happen). Does Brock get that wrestling instinct and start shooting? This fight has so many interesting layers.
Thanks for the comment.
If you would do an image search on Brock Lesnar and you seen the black and white picture of him, you would realize that nobody gets that big without steroids. NOBODY. Look at it and tell me what you think. I know this has nothing to do with the fight but im just defending myself because Cody seems to think that there is no way he could be on them. Besides all of the steroid talk, Lesnar is probably more athletically gifted and a better fighter anyways.
MMA DR, lots of people would agree with you. I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’d say he looks a lot different now than when he did when he was in WWE. But then again, it’s just my opinion and I don’t have any fact backing it up.
I never said that he has never done them. He actually got busted for certain supplements while he was in college. but thats beside the point. Do your research on anabolic steroids and see just how hard it is to maintain muscle after you cycle a couple of times. and size is only half of it. Strength is twice as hard to maintain and we all know Brock has no problem in that department. and no matter how good you think you are at masking steroids, there are people whos career is to develop fool proof ways to test for roids and to say that lesnar is smarter than a bunch of lab rats is a stretch even for a super human like the next big thing.
So he took illegal supplements unfairly?
MMA Dr, you’ve got a big set to claim to have a PHD in MMA. What school did you earn your credentials in?
you are on a computer Dr mma, google it
He’s prob stressed from the 12 years of school it took to become a DOCTOR of MMA!
mma dr, you’re an idiot. Do you even know Brock Lesnar? This dude grew up in the country. His idea of fun is working out in a barn. Lesnar has had that size since he was a kid. He is a NCAA Wrestling Champion. Go google a picture of Brock when he was in high school before you assume things.
Let’s relax on the name calling. Unless any of us watches any of these fighters prepare, we all don’t know anything.
And saying that he was big in high school means nothing. There are tons of high school athletes roiding up these days.
OK Jeffy, even high school kids these days take steroids, and many kids work on the farm, but usually don’t look like that. So thats why he was definitely on roids.
Sigh.
Can’t we just agree that none of us except Brock knows?
Im sticking to my guns and staying with the fact that the 2008- 2009 brock lesnar is all him, no needle. That being said I cant wait to see what kind of excuses are going to be made when he knocks out Mir in 2 weeks
There is no accuracy in assumption. Cody, I agree.
If anyone does their research on brock like myself. You will read that Brock did grow up on a farm with nothing to do other than to work your ass maintaing the family business. Every day while a teenager Brock would try to pick up everything in sight just to see if he could. There were times when he would pick up the cattle that were late coming back to the barn. He had no distractions in the county like people who live in the city. So When it comes to roids, watch one of his workout videos. Or just read about what he does on a daily routine. He has his own workout facility in his back yard. He also has some really good mma coaches that nobody every brings up. Mir has ran his mouth enough its time to make him cry like he did after brandon verra whopped his ass. Oh wait brandon is a light heavy now hummm.
All of those things could be true, and he still could’ve taken them. Or he could be clean. None of us knows. Only he knows.
We’re less than two weeks away. I can’t wait.
true. but i see what adam is trying to say. I doubt he was taking them when he was 13, carrying cows around on his shoulders. There is no doubt that he has probably done them before but he obviously doesnt need them if he can pass tests non stop and maintain his size and strength
Understand that I’m not saying that I think he’s guilty of taking steroids. I’m simply saying that we don’t know. We can all guess and assume, but that’s really all we can do.
Ill be the first to pat myself on the back and say I called it to the tee in this very column, lol
My prediction was 2nd round stoppage so I was right on the money too.
We can give ourselves a self high five DDP style.
