DREAM.9 – Jose Canseco tries his hand at Mixed Martial Arts
Alan from our very own site first made me aware of this and I thought it was hilarious news.
On 5/26 at Heiwa’s DREAM.9 show from Yokohama Arena, in addition to featuring the second round of the Featherweight Grand Prix, will also have the first round of the SUPER HULK GRAND PRIX~!, a freakshow tournament with all freakshow fights featuring Bob Sapp, Gegard Mousasi, Hong-Man Choi, Sokoudjou, K-1/PRIDE veteran Mark Hunt, and Jose Canseco. Yes… JOSE CANSECO… from MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL. Amazing.
The Super Hulk Tournament Opening Round Fights will be:
- Gegard Mousasi vs. Mark Hunt
- Bob Sapp vs. Minowaman a.k.a. Ikuhisa “The Punk” Minowa
- Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou vs. “The Giant” Jan Nortje
- Hong Man Choi vs. Jose Canseco
Rounding out the card is Gesias “JZ” Calvancante against Tatsuya Kawajiri and Ronaldo Souza vs. Jason “Mayhem” Miller for the Dream Middleweight Championship.
This is why I love Japanese Mixed Martial Arts.
Canseco is either going to get hit once and go down for a very long time, or he’s going to get hit twice and die.
He lost to Vai Sikahema in a celebrity boxing match. Vai was like 100 pounds less and knocked him down.
He also drew with Bonaduce in a similar styled match. Canseco is big, but the dude is terrible with his hands.
