Published by GG at 9:20 pm under Mixed Martial Arts,PPV,Play by Play,UFC

The FGB Crew put together a UFC 92 preview on Wednesday. We’ll have live play by play when the show starts.

1. Cheick Kongo vs. Mostapha Al-Turk

Lots of clinching against the cage early on. Al-Turk kneed Kongo low and about a minute later, Kongo gave it back to him. Kongo caught him with a punch that might’ve been an eye poke. Al-Turk went down and Kongo unleashed elbows and punches to the face before the stoppage. It was a pretty late stoppage. Al-Turk wasn’t getting up and was just taking punishment.

Winner: Cheick Kongo by way of 1st round TKO

2. Wanderlei Silva vs. Rampage Jackson

There was a lot of boxing going on early though Silva was able to get the same leg kicks that helped Forrest Griffin beat Rampage. Silva came in and Rampage knocked him out cold with a left hook. Silva was out cold but Rampage followed up with two shots while the ref was trying to pull him off.

Winner: Rampage Jackson by way of 1st round TKO.

3. Dan Evensen vs. Patrick Barry

Barry was kicking Evensen’s legs to death and threw a leg kick that caught Evensen when his leg was planted and Evensen couldn’t continue.

Winner: Patrick Barry by 1st round TKO

4. CB Dollaway vs. Mike Massenzio

Massenzio has his left leg all taped up. He caught Dollaway and Dollaway went down. Massenzio followed it up with a guillotine, but Dollaway was able to pop his head out. Dollaway got on top in the mount and then got his back and flattened him out. Dollaway threw punches to the side of his head and Massenzio didn’t cover up or try to defend and it was stopped.

Winner: CB Dollaway by way of 1st round TKO.

5. Matt Hamill vs. Reese Andy

After all these years, Hamill still holds his hands low and drops them when he throws his right hand. Andy keeps peppering his right eye with the jab and it’s now cut. Hamill picked it up in the second half of the round. He was beating Andy to the punch and scoring at will. Neither guy really defends well.

Hamill started to throw left hooks to the body and one of them caused Andy to go to a knee. Hamill followed up on with the ground and pound before it was stopped.

Winner: Matt Hamill by way of 2nd round TKO

6. Frank Mir vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

Mir was landing right left combinations and nailed Nog with an uppercut that snapped his head back. He’s throwing high leg kicks as well. Mir knocked him down with a big right hand and tried to follow up with the ground and pound, but Nog caught his wind and Mir decided to let him back up. Mir caught him with a left hand that dropped Nog again as the round ended. That was a 10-8 round. Nog looks old again.

Mir knocked Nog down again and followed up with the ground and pound and it was stopped. Nog got up and was dizzy.

Winner: Frank Mir by 2nd round TKO

7. Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans

First round was all kick boxing. Griffin landed some leg kicks and it looked like Evans was getting tired of it. Evans was loading up for the big right hand. It looks like Griffin’s reach is giving him troubles.

Griffin’s game plan is to attack the legs and Rashad is trying to box his way to victory. Griffin put together a nice combination that sent Rashad on the run and Rashad put his hands down, blew Forrest a kiss and then threw a right hand. Evans is doing better at getting inside in this round. Griffin won the first round but this round was close to call.

Evans caught a leg kick and followed it up with a right hand that put Forrest down. Evans threw about 10 unanswered hammer fists, but Forrest pulled him into his guard. In Griffin’s guard, he threw a right hand that sent Griffin loopy. He was out completely, but the ref didn’t see it and Forrest took several unnecessary punches to the face. Rashad is the new light heavyweight weight champ.

Winner: Rashad Evans by way of 3rd round TKO

8. Antoni Hardonk vs. Mike Wessel

Wessel has a beer belly. He looked impressive with his striking and won the first round.

Hardonk got on top and finished him.

Winner: Antoni Hardonk by way of 2nd round TKO

The Good: Rampage seems to be back on track, Mir looked as good as I can remember seeing him, and the new ring girl is hot.

The Bad: Nog looked like it may be time to hang it up, another televised fight with Everson, and Griffin on his back.

The Ugly: Wessel’s beer belly, CB Dollaway’s sneer, and Matt Hamill’s striking.

I think we’re going to see Nog vs. Couture, which I think would do really well with the hardcores.

It also looks like Rampage might get the first shot against Rashad.

My friend said that he hated CB Dollaway simply because he looked like a prick.
